Us & It

Permahigh Records' gyrating rhythm n’ subs wizard, Us & It returns triumphantly from his support with the mighty Memotone to headline a classic night of S.O.I. electronics.
Representing a new generation of producers taking off from the blueprints of Flying Lotus, Hudson Mohawke and Lapalux, Us and It hoovers in a complex multipsampled worldspace that collapses space-time into a hypercolour palette of schizoid genre references that are cold fused into a matrix of lolloping and syncopated rhythms which provide a liberating space for in-the-know feet.
Expect enormous, meat-pie sized kick drums, snapcrack snares, room-bending bass and mighty levels of swing.

Quip

Ben Eyes returns afresh from his Swedish studio engineering residency (where he developed interactive light based music systems for the Arduino) to fire up Wharf Chambers once again with his full spectrum take on electronic music.
Quip live shows are always something to savour, not least because you are never quite sure which genre he will be operating in; from Fennesz styled rustic and bucolic laptop and guitar meditations to heavy studio export hardware sets evoking techno nostalgia on vintage boxes. His recent performance at Leeds Digital Festival was an exemplary showcase of Eyes’ Aphex inspired laptopia, filled with meticulously hand-built breaks and widescreen melodies.

Matt Robson

From the backwaters of error-prone electronica, Matt Robson, the manboy of LS6, continues to provide a laypersons view on the world of under-the-radar electronic music. Taking a naïve art approach to the production of electronic music, Robson’s sound encompasses the joyful and the melancholic in a bittersweet package that uses an unashamed electronica blueprint as its structural foundations. Into the grid are thrown microscopic tropes and nods to everything from hip hop, to post-rock, to R&B and grime.
