Transitioning from a group of buskers to becoming an internationally recognised and successful Klezmer band with a career spanning over fifteen years, Amsterdam Klezmer Band adopt traditional Balkan and Klezmer music whilst combining it with contemporary ska, jazz, gypsy and hip-hop. Dating back to 1997, the seven piece classically trained musicians began their journey as AKB playing several street festivals across Italy, Switzerland and Slovakia, gaining popularity with agents and fans alike. Reinvigorating the kindred spirit of the legendary Jewish travelling band known as the ‘klezmorim’ who traversed across Europe two centuries previous. Comprising of clarinet, double bass, alto saxophone, banjo, trumpet, trombone, accordion and percussion, there no ends to the diversity of sound that AKB are so eloquently able to produce. With eleven studio albums under their belt and having built an incredible live reputation, Amsterdam Klezmer Band are a must see.
