Mong Tong – Sun Moon Darkness 明日音
A new psychedelic ritual begins.
The album arrives soon. One night in Taipei, Nov. 30, 2025.
Taiwanese psychedelic duo Mong Tong return with Sun Moon Darkness, a new full-length album released by the Open Culture Foundation (OCF) under a Creative Commons (CC BY 4.0) license. It is an album that transforms sound into an open ritual, a space where myth, rhythm, and technology intertwine.
OCF, the label behind this release, carries forward the spirit first established by Lim Giong and Luca Bonaccorsi on Bioerosion / 時間浸漬. Mong Tong have taken the openly licensed sound materials from that project and reshaped them into a new mythology of their own, blending fragments of folk memory, futuristic drones, and hypnotic basslines.
Sun Moon Darkness features two special collaborations.
“萬引” with Lilium (百合花) merges Taiwanese folk-rock cadence with swirling psychedelia.
“強烈建議” with Dawang Yingfan Huang (黃大旺) channels a desert ritual through chants and distortion — expanding their sonic palette into new terrain.
To celebrate the release, Mong Tong will stage “The Open-Source Psychedelic Ritual”, a one-night-only performance at SUB Taipei on November 30. The event will feature Lilium (百合花), Dawang Yingfan Huang (黃大旺), and White Wu from PrairieWWWW, with the new-media collective XTRUX crafting an immersive field of light and motion.
The only live performance of Sun Moon Darkness this year — a hallucinatory ceremony where open culture meets future folk.
