One phrase to describe this show: Mind bending.
My friend and I got to Double Happiness Bar in Columbus, Ohio right around when the doors opened at 9:00pm. There were probably around 5-7 other people there waiting to see milo in the flesh. The stage was extremely small and personable and the only lighting came from the giant Double Happiness logo in the window behind the stage. I thought this added a sense of mystery and somewhat chaotic / thrown together feel to the venue, which I liked very much. As it became closer to showtime more people showed up with a total of 20-25 people coming. The openers all did there thing we stand-out performances from iSoljah, Illogic, and Safari Al. All artists that are extremely worthy of your listen, and I advise you do so.
As Safari Al (the last opener and part of milo's label ruby yacht) is creating one weird ass fucking beat loop, milo and the third and final member of ruby yacht (you can probably guess who that is) show up right to the stage and start messing with all of their equipment. While this is going on S. Al is still going OFF on this beat. Adding noise and sounds I didn't think existed. Eventually S. Al goes off stage and 2/3 of ruby yacht are still fiddling with their equipment and trying to get their sound just right. It was so worth it.
The beat starts and milo starts rapping rabblerouse, the first song off his 2nd full length project "so the files don't come". The crowd is vibing hard and everyone is having a good time. milo's partner in crime is next to him with a mic with some heavy distortion added onto the production. Throughout every song he would add random vocals that echoed throughout the whole building and noises that fit perfectly with the beats and milo's spoken word type rap flow. At the end of the show, I head over to the merch table where milo is. I get myself a ruby yacht T-shirt and a copy of "so the files don't come" on cassette. I also ask if I can get a picture with him really quick and he's totally cool about it and says yes.
All in all this show was very intimate and enjoyable from start to finish. If you're of fan of Open Mike Eagle, Busdriver, ect. I can not recommend enough to treat yourself and go see milo live.
