Come on Eileen!! Obviously one of the greatest songs of all time. I have been a fan of Dexy’s Midnight Runners for years, even their non Eileen songs so this concert was a real treat to me.
Though they are obviously older than they were back in 1982 when Eileen was a hit they still have the fun and energy that made that song a number one hit. The trumpets in the background were fantastic and the violin player, was just gorgeous. Of course the tempo change during Come on Eileen. I didn’t think they were going to be able to keep up but they managed to. That song in particular stands the test of time.
Still as fun now as it was in 1982. I do wonder how many other people in the crowd were alive in 1982 when it was released. It seemed to be a younger crowd, but of course they all knew Eileen! I would highly recommend this band to anyone who not only loves pop culture hits of the 80s but anyone that just likes fun songs by fun bands. I really wish they would go on a small tour again so I could see them, would totally be worth it.
