Built around their acclaimed album Mostly We Drive, this unique show brings together two lifelong innovators whose musical paths have finally converged. Messer – widely regarded as the UK’s premier slide guitarist – has spent four decades redefining the blues, blending influences from Delta roots to African rhythms and beyond. Jankel, co-writer of classics including Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick and Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, brings a rich songwriting legacy spanning funk, pop, film scores and international hits.
Their collaboration began just before lockdown, evolving remotely into a deeply atmospheric and genre-crossing body of work. The resulting music is often described as “World Blues” – weaving together hypnotic rhythms, lyrical depth and adventurous instrumentation. Tracks such as Visions Of Hope showcase their ability to balance musical beauty with thought-provoking themes, reflecting on the modern world with both wit and urgency.
Live, Messer and Jankel strip things back to the essence — guitars, voice, and instinct — creating an intimate yet expansive sound that moves effortlessly between blues, folk, and global influences. Expect a set full of groove, storytelling, and masterful musicianship from two artists at the height of their creative powers.
