Black Coffee is a DJ who knows exactly what he is doing with his original beats and his flow with the music that he so proudly creates. He is definitely one of those musicians who has embarked on a crossover sort of sound, incorporating traditional African and East Asian instruments into his sound, but somehow it is done in a way that just makes him sound current throughout this set. There are some huge peaks of this set where everyone around me is in a state of euphoria when one of the beat drops into a mid tempo groove. There are people showing off some of their best shapes. I’ve got to admit also, that it is just amazing to see so many people around me smiling. That’s what music is all about – uniting people and making people feel something whether it’s good or bad. It’s a feeling and it’s art and that’s exactly what Black Coffee is doing with his fantastic music that he makes. The audience ride the wave of his music throughout, “Buya” being one of my favourite.
