For me, I love punk music, but I sometimes find it a little too heavy, so This Wild Life’s combination of punk and pop is absolutely perfect. The catch choruses and hooks blended with the traditional characteristics of punk music had the whole audience singing along from start to finish and having a great time. Their tracks are really relatable, and both band members took turns giving a short explanation of the origin of their songs and the motivations behind them which was really great knowing the personal attachments of the songs to the dup.
They opened with their track History, and the way that they both harmonised over the top of each other vocally whilst playing incredibly complex rhythms on their acoustic guitars was a real demonstration of their talent. They were dancing along to their music throughout the show, and on their songs such as Concrete and No More Bad Days, they called out to us in the audience to sing along, and they even pulled up someone from the front who knew all of the words to sing part of the chorus through the microphone. It was great to see that they were genuinely lovely guys who wanted us to enjoy the show, and it really made the difference. The vibe was super positive, and everyone was just there to enjoy the music which is what it’s all about.
